CL Web3 Grants #28
This edition marks the launch of our Data Driven & Impact Analytics layer, starting with EU blockchain grants and expanding across the Web3 funding ecosystem! Alongside a fresh wave of active grants!
Welcome to the first CL Web3 Grants newsletter of 2026!
A new year always comes with a bit of perspective. Web3 keeps moving fast, but the questions around funding, impact, and what actually gets built are becoming more important than ever.
This first edition of 2026 is about setting the tone for what’s next. We’re continuing to surface high-quality grant opportunities for builders, while also starting to share deeper insights from the data we’ve been working on behind the scenes. The goal is simple: help the ecosystem make better decisions, grounded in evidence and real outcomes.
Thank you for being here and for growing this community with us. Let’s make 2026 a year of fewer narratives and more things that actually ship.

🧠 Insights from the Field
What does nearly €600M in institutional funding actually build in practice? This question matters if you’re building blockchain products in Europe, designing or evaluating funding programmes, or trying to understand the EU funding model from the outside.
As the first release of our new analytics layer, we analysed 165 blockchain and DLT projects funded under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. The data points to a clear structural friction:
While the EU is a powerhouse of documentation, with nearly 50% of recorded outputs being reports, only 2.4% of projects reach the stage of a technical demonstrator.
This isn’t just an EU-specific insight. It highlights a broader challenge in how institutional funding translates into usable, production-ready infrastructure especially in fast-moving fields like Web3.
With 5,000+ users already using Web3Grants.co as their go-to grants hub, we’re now launching the next phase of the CL Web3 Grants Hub:
🚀 Data-Driven & Impact Analytics
This new feature, available at analytics.web3grants.co, expands beyond the EU and is designed to analyse Web3 grant programmes across ecosystems.
The EU blockchain grants analysis is the starting point, not the finish line.
As an intelligence layer for the Web3 funding ecosystem, Data-Driven and Impact Analytics transforms raw grant data into a strategic tool for:
Funding strategy and programme design
Builder positioning and grant selection
Understanding where capital leads to real-world deployment
Comparing outcomes across ecosystems and funding models and learning from each other
The goal isn’t to critique funding structures, but to make impact visible so builders, funders, and ecosystem leaders can make better decisions based on evidence, not narratives.
